THE Uganda Youth Soccer Programme (UYSP), a soccer academy in Kampala has reached an understanding with Happy Hours schools to take care of the academic aspects of the children under the programme.

UYSP director Ivan Kakembo told The New Vision that 18 students in each of the primary and secondary sections will join Happy Hours schools starting this term. This will cater for the U-14 and U-17 teams respectively.

Kakembo was at his office taking parents and the prospective beneficiaries through contracts.

“The aim is to have the teams stay together and in proximity so they can always train together. We shall be collecting them by bus for training sessions,” Kakembo explained.

Kakembo also said that it was essential that both parents and students understand their obligations on one part, and that of the academy, in the relationship. The children under the programme are will have free education at Happy Hours schools.

Meanwhile, an American soccer coach Ridenhour Daniel will visit the academy in March and also do some work with the local federation. Daniel is also handling Ugandans Steven Nsereko and Patrick Kalungi at Winthrop University in South Carolina, USA.
