EDITOR—I wish to congratulate our national broadcaster UBC TV on the just concluded African Cup of Nations Tournament. Many countries in Africa failed to air the tournament live to their nationals.

It called for the intervention of the President of Benin to purchase the rights for this tournament for these countries!

However I am happy that our national broadcaster had already acquired the rights, so we in Uganda needed no such remedy.

The country was able to watch the 32 games live and free! for this UBC must be applauded.

Both UBC Radio and Television continue to promote programmes that are educative, entertaining and nationalistic.
The changes at this station cannot be ignored. Gone are the days of a broadcaster that was not competitive.

The UBC I see now is one that is focused, relevant and competing effectively in an already saturated and highly competitive media industry. I recently visited their website and found it informative and interactive.

As a former media manager I am excited with the evolution of the media industry in Uganda and I am happy to see that UBC is in the forefront of this transformation.
