EDITOR — It’s good news that we now have a properly trained boxing instructor That he is from Cuba is another plus. But whether Rodolfo Gonzalez can deliver will greatly depend on what programme the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation has set for him.
I hope UABF has set up a grassroots development program. This involves training of club coaches. The main reason why we currently lack skilled boxers is because of a lack of skilled teachers of the sport.
Like your columnist James Bakama wrote in one of his recent articles, how can someone who as a fighter couldn’t throw a proper jab, be able to teach a student how to deliver a proper punch? It’s at this level that Jimenez should be most active, not the national team.

Thanks IHF!
EDITOR — Allow me to thank the world hockey body, Uganda Olympic Committee and all other sponsors for providing us with the modern synthetic hockey pitch.
It is a wonderfull development, which I think will make Ugandan hockey blossom.
However, I do challenge the national association to properly run the facility.
