THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has criticised Baganda MPs for opposing the proposed Land Bill, saying they were sowing seeds of discord among Ugandans.

“They go to ebimeeza (radio talk-shows) telling people ettaka ligenda, balitwaala (land is being grabbed). Whose land has been grabbed?” Bukenya asked.

“I was born and grew up in a kibanja (tenant) setting, but we were never evicted because my parents paid obusuulu to our landlord. We lived happily. This is the kind of existence we want to restore,” Bukenya said.

Addressing Mukono district leaders during a mobilisation trail for the Bona Bagaggawale (prosperity-for-all) programme on Friday, Bukenya said similar talks had surrounded the 9,000sq.miles demanded by the Mengo establishment.

The Vice-President urged Buganda kingdom to identify the land and follow proper channels to repose it.

Trade minister Janat Mukwaya urged Ugandans to embrace the prosperity-for-all project to fight poverty in households.
