LEADERS and human rights activists must not only teach people about their rights and freedoms but also let them know their responsibilities, according to Bishop Michael Kyomya.

“Imagine a vehicle hooting but people remain in the middle of the road under the pretext of exercising their right to use the road. That is indiscipline.”

The Busoga Diocese prelate, who was speaking at St. Stephen’s Church Mafubira in Jinja district on Sunday, noted that irresponsibility leads to a high crime rate.

Jinja Woman MP Ruth Tuma challenged the Church to initiate programmes geared at fighting moral decay in society.

“This morning (Sunday) I received a complaint about a man who impregnated his neighbour’s 14-year-old daughter. This is the country’s future being spoilt and a case of moral decadence,” she said.
