Ankole university affiliated to UCU

ANKOLE Western University in Itendero, Bushenyi district, has been affiliated to Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.

ANKOLE Western University in Itendero, Bushenyi district, has been affiliated to Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.

“The university applied to be a study centre for UCU under the coordination of Bishop Barham University in Kabale, which is affiliated to UCU,” said the Rev. John Kateeba.

Kateeba on Saturday led a team of UCU officials to the institution. The Church-founded university with 300 students has 46.8 acres of land.

The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Yona Katoneene, said: “The President’s integral mission and that of the Government of Uganda is education. Therefore, Ankole Western University’s fundamental mission is high academic standards.”

The industry state minister, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, said the higher the education standards, the more relevant President Museveni’s vision of transforming the economy was.

Kamuntu, who is also Sheema South MP, said Ankole Western University was doing what the government should be doing and there was no doubt of getting the government’s support.

Prof. Mwene Mushanga is the vice-chancellor of the university. The Rev. Dr. Caroline Langford is the deputy vice-a chancellor; Enos Rwasheema is the university secretary, while Justus Tumuheirwe is the academic registrar.
