The parliamentary committee handling the Land Amendment Bill has named the groups it urgently wants to listen to. Peter Nyombi, a co-chair, said the MPs would want to get Mengo’s views and those of the Uganda Joint Christian Council and the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council. The committee has for the past month been receiving views from the public, with majority submissions asking for a law that is fair to both tenants and landowners.
