UGANDA'S music scene is swimming with the A-list musicians. In less than two months, we have toasted to UB40, rubbed shoulders with Kci & Jojo, Akon is on his way; we would be forgiven for assuming Uganda is on another continent.

What about this for a reality check? Uganda Waragi too has joined the musician fray, but rather than one show, it is a more sobering series of shows that will bring us back to reality and perhaps remind us to toast to our own.

Here come the East African celeb mixer concerts, dubbed the Uganda Waragi East Africa music mix that will soon kick off.

Juliana Kaggwa, Uganda Waragi’s brand manager, promises the mix will feature East Africa’s leading music icons who will participate in a series of concerts and mix parties across the country, before the grand live musical concert in Kampala.

“The concept will bring the celebrities closer to the fans to share a mix of music from the three countries. Artistes, like Nameless, Wyre, AY, Dudu Baya and our own will traverse the north, east and western regions of the country as we look to reward our consumers more,” adds Kaggwa.

The mix, supposed to have kicked off in Jinja over the Easter weekend was postponed. Mbarara, Arua and Gulu towns are all set to mill with the artistes. The mix runs up to the end of May when the final concert will be held.

Rather than pay money for entrance to the major concert, a mere coupon given upon purchasing Uganda waragi will be used.
