WHOEVER thought seminarians only read the Bible, attend mass and read books as they prepare for priesthood, thought wrong.

These fine young men have got lots of talent up their priestly sleeves as was shown at last weekend’s celebration of St. Joseph’s Day at Nswanjere Junior Seminary in Mpigi District.

St. Joseph’s Day is important on the institution’s calendar as the seminary, named after St. Joseph, the father of Jesus remembers its Patron Saint on this day. St Joseph’s day, which falls every 19th of March, was this time celebrated early.

The celebrations brought the best out of the young future priests, who range from p4 to p7. They presented to their guests songs, poems and traditional dances such as the Bakisimba Muwogola.

In bold eloquent tones, the seminarians voiced a touching poem on the adverse affects AIDS has had on society– “AIDS, AIDS, you have taken our relatives, friends, even leaders. You are so bad,” they cried.

Nswanjere has always been good at music and dance and this was yet another chance for the young seminarians to prove their abilities. All these were performed to melodies off a CD recorded by the seminarians; one which, according to the rector, Rev. Fr. Edward Sssebuliba, will soon be released.

Like its motto-Regi Regum (King of Kings) suggests, Nswanjere rules in many areas.
