In-form opener Neil McKenzie struck an unbeaten 155 to guide South Africa to a draw against India on the final day of the first test on Sunday. McKenzie claimed his fourth test century to help the tourists to 331 for five in their second innings, a lead of 254 runs, before a draw was called after tea. The 32-year-old, who notched 226 during a world record 415-run opening partnership with skipper Graeme Smith against Bangladesh earlier this month, hit 13 fours and a six and added 157 runs for the second wicket with Hashim Amla.

Mbarara champs
Mbarara high school has emerged champions of Bishop Tibesigwa cup after defeating 10 other teams which participated in the tournament. The event drew participants from all secondary schools in the archdeaconaries of Ankole diocese in football for boys and girls, netball and volleyball for both boys and girls. Mbarara HS took the boys football trophy, Kibubura girls topped in both netball and volleyball for girls while Kashaka Girls lifted the girls football title. Each school that emerged top in each category received a bull and a trophy.

Soroti selects 48
Soroti Municipality has selected a team of 48 athletes to represent Soroti Municipal in the national primary schools athletics championships in Adjuman. The team left early yesterday for Adjuman. Northern division led the municipality championship with 945 points, Eastern division finished second with 541 and Western fourth, 536 points.
The Municipal sports officer,Lucy Anno accompanied the team to Adjuman.
