Caddie on Uganda team

SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Kabale female caddie Melon Kyomugisha has been included on Uganda’s team to the All Africa Challenge Trophy tournament in Cairo, Egypt due April 29-30.

SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Kabale female caddie Melon Kyomugisha has been included on Uganda’s team to the All Africa Challenge Trophy tournament in Cairo, Egypt due April 29-30.

Kyomugisha makes the trip as a reserve player and will later on compete in Egypt Ladies Open. Monica Ntege, Flavia Namakula and Eva Okatch form Uganda’s team.

Namakula beat the teenage star to the third slot on the team in a hard-fought qualifier at Kitante last month.

“We want her to get exposure now because she’s our future star,” Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Alice Owori remarked.

Awori spotted Kyomugisha in Kabale and now pays her tuition fees at Kyambogo College.

* THE Bro Group Western golf Open has been spiced up with an appearance fee of sh100,000 for each professional and sh3m in prize money.

Ten professionals led by their captain Deo Akope are heading to Fort Portal's Toro course for the 36-hole event this weekend.

There will also be action in the amateurs categories of the event sponsored by Bro Group of companies including Threeways shipping services.
