IT seems nothing changes in Bika boxing. Balangira won the Bika (clans) Boxing Championship for a fourth consecutive year on Sunday, and yet again the victory was tainted by cries of foul play at Lugogo.

“This is daylight theft,” yelled Ffumbe head coach Quraish Walusimbi as the final results were announced.

Walusimbi and his clan-mates were particularly not happy with the scoring at the week-long competition.

The Balangira (royals ) just laughed off the complaints, insisting they were the best side.

Brian Ssuna (fly), Yusuf Ssuna(l/weight) and Alex Ndawula (middle) were the champions' victors in the juniors category while Joseph Kalema (l/fly), Vincent Mutebi (bantam) and Salim Juuko triumphed for the royals in the open category contest.

Nkima Moses Tamale registered the biggest surprise of the 24-clan competition. The middleweight thrilled spectators with sharp combinations that had him beating national team boxer Robert Ssebugwawo.

This year’s event was sponsored by Moonberg, Jomayi, Statewide Insurance, Buganda Kingdom, Magic FM, Coin Limited and Pepsi Cola.

Balangira, backed by Lukanga Boxing Club, have won since Ffumbe took the first two editions.
