Bishop tips on trees
KABAROLE-The Fort Portal Catholic Bishop, Robert Muhirwa, has appealed to the public to plant trees during the ongoing rainy season. He advised that emphasis be put on eucalyptus and fruit trees. “I also appeal to catechists, the laity and apostolate movements to utilise all free church land for this purpose,” he said in a message sent to all churches recently. The circular also added that a census would be conducted soon to ascertain the number of Catholics in the diocese.

Defiler gets 4 years in jail
KABALE-A defiler, Emmanuel Byaruhanga, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment. Magistrate Irene Akankwasa said the accused got a lighter sentence because he was a first offender, did not waste court’s time and spent a long time on remand.
