EDITOR—I was in Katakwi for the last two weeks and to my surprise, the karimojong still sneak past the Anti-Stock Theft Unit officers deployed along the border area. My suggestion is that the government should deploy additional security in the former IDP camp areas like Okibui to assure the returnees that they are safe.

Only last week some cows were stolen and later recovered deep in karamoja and the owners said they had to pay the recoverer some ‘lunch’ and other dues.

I wish to thank the minister in charge of security for looking into Teso’s problems. However, most of the assistance in Katakwi seems to be sent to toroma and magoro, while usuk county, particularly okibui village, is neglected. Please serve the people equally.
