PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has met the committee organising the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).
The delegation, which met the President at State House, Nakasero yesterday, briefed him on the progress of the meeting slated for June 18 to 20 at the Commonwealth Resort in Munyoyo.

The 35th Organisation of Islamic Conference will be attended by foreign ministers and business people from Muslim countries.

The meeting will be preceded by a business forum on June 16 to 18 at Imperial Royale Hotel. The council of foreign ministers will meet from June 18 to 20 at the Speke Hotel Munyonyo.

The leader of the delegation, Oliver Kigongo, said Uganda was ready to host the conference.

Museveni said the meeting would give the visitors a chance to explore Uganda’s investment potential.

The forum will create a platform for sharing experiences and identifying investment opportunities in Africa, the regional cooperation minister, Isaac Musumba, said recently.

“This is not an affair for only Uganda but the whole region. We invited the East African Business Council to also participate,” he added.

“Most of the richest people in the Arab world have confirmed their attendance. We encourage investors to promote their businesses,” the minister said.
