<b>Suspected wire thief arrested</b><br>SOROTI-A 34-year-old man, Ezekel Opoli, has been held for allegedly stealing electricity wires belonging to Umeme. Opoli is a former employee of a private security firm, Interid, which used to offer security services to Umeme.

SOROTI-A 34-year-old man, Ezekel Opoli, has been held for allegedly stealing electricity wires belonging to Umeme. Opoli is a former employee of a private security firm, Interid, which used to offer security services to Umeme. The district Police chief, Sam Musisi, said they found Opoli with the wires at Kengere power station in the municipality after a tip-off. “We got him inside the Umeme sub-station store with a bundle of wires weighing 50 kilos and others in the bag.”

Student held over robbery
SEMBABULE-A suspected robber, who has allegedly been breaking into people’s houses at night and vandalising boda boda motorcycles, has been arrested. The district CID officer, Fred Eriku, said Tonny Mpaulo, an S.5 student of Jinja SS and a resident of Kiira Road, was picked up last week. “We found him with household items and a motorcycle. He is part of a gang that has been terrorising residents.”
