Monitor your storekeepers
Have you ever wondered what your storekeepers take as they go home? Well if you haven’t, you better find out. Apparently, some people in charge of stores at shops and supermarkets in Kampala leave with costly items everyday, which in the long run add up to millions of shillings.

The store men slip items into their clothes, stockings, gum boots, underwear, among others, where it may be hard to detect that something is being carried away.

A store man at a spare parts shop on Nakivubo Road in Kampala recently got embarrassed when parts he had stolen from his boss’ shop fell out of his clothes. He took off but people chased him, wrestled him to the ground and he was taken to Central Police Station. The proprietor told Police that he had lost items worth sh34m over time.

TIPS
1. Install CCTV cameras in your stores to monitor everything.
2. Check all staff as they leave the premises.

3. Carry out an audit or stock taking of your items regularly.
4. The staff should be rotated in departments so that no one takes charge of a section for a long time.
