EXCITED by Cranes emphatic 3-1 victory over the Palancas Negras on Saturday, soccer governing body FUFA has decided to charter a plane for the national team for the first time. The Cranes play Angola in Luanda on Sunday — one week after their 3-1 win at Namboole.

“ As I said last week, I don’t want any more excuses from any quarter. I want the team in a perfect state of mind in Luanda,” insisted Mulindwa as he finalised a deal to charter a plane late yesterday.

The team’s preliminary itinerary has it travelling on a 40- seater plane on Friday.
Alternative travel would have the team using Ethiopian Airways via Addis Ababa on Thursday on a longer route.

FUFA vice president (technical) Asuman Lubowa said the Cranes contingent will comprise of 18 players and seven officials. Mulindwa explained that there is an arrangement to travel with supporters who will be required to each pay $1,400 (sh2.2m).

FUFA technical director Edgar Watson will travel to Luanda before Thursday to ensure that the team secures proper training facilities.

Ugandan teams have always complained of poor treatment during away matches.

The Cranes, determined to pull off their biggest away surprise, had only a day’s break before returning to camp yesterday.
