A splendid success would be an under statement to describe the wedding reception of Owen Murangira and Fiona Awava, daughter of energy minister, Daudi Migereko on Saturday.

The glamour, personalities and the great and plentiful food all blended well to create a memorable reception at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Earlier, President Yoweri Museveni attended the church service at All Saint’s Cathedral, Nakasero and urged the young couple to follow cultural norms and commended their inter-tribal marriage.

The groom is from Ankole while the bride is from Busoga. Museveni gave them two heifers.

After dinner, it was time for speeches and speaker after speaker gave the couple advice; from the father of the bride, to deputy premier Kirunda Kivenjija, deputy speaker Rebecca Kadaga, health state minister Richard Nduhura, to security minister Amama Mbabazi.

The latter’s speech had people murmuring when he advised the couple to follow the Bible teaching: Go into the world and multiply.

When it was time to cut the cake, the hall was filled with ululations. Other guests included; ministers John Nasasira, Sam Kuteesa, Michael Werikhe, Kamanda Bataringaya, Nelson Gagawala, Syda Bbumba and Kabakumba Matsiko, Government’s chief whip.

Mike Mukula and his wife, former minister Henry Kyemba, Shell’s Ivan Kyayonka, Umeme’s Irene Muloni and MPs from Busoga also attended.
