KAMPALA-Former agriculture minister Dr. Wilberforce Kisamba Mugerwa has promised to transform the National Planning Authority (NPA) into an effective body that will fight poverty. Kisamba, who was appointed NPA chairman last month, said with the help of the new high caliber leadership, he will steer the planning body to greater heights. “I am working for the realignment of NPA. We need to take a more participatory approach, involve the local people and find solutions to poverty,” he said on Monday.

Bishop warns school girls
MASAKA-Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa of Masaka Diocese has cautioned girls against early marriages. He told students of Kimaanya Blessed Sacrament School that men today prefer marrying educated women. “If you make a mistake of dropping out of school to get married after Senior Four, you will regret. Educated women make better wives and they are most preferred, it’s vital for you to get more knowledge that will help you to become a good wife.” The bishop was launching the construction of a sh700m girls’ dormitory at the school. The two storeyed modern dormitory will accommodate 500 girls according to the headmistress, Babirye Kabanda.
