Bukedde FM’s Ttabamiruka hits airwaves in style

Humour and emotions welcomed Bukedde FM’s Ttabamiruka, a radio talk show that was launched last Saturday at The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company in Industrial Area.

Humour and emotions welcomed Bukedde FM’s Ttabamiruka, a radio talk show that was launched last Saturday at The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company in Industrial Area.
The colourful ceremony attracted over 500 guests and political activists from all major parties. Led by the chief executive officer of The Vision Group, Robert Kabushenga, the radio presenters who were dressed in gomesi and Bukedde FM T-shirts, ushered in guests as early as 10:00am.
Among the guests were Kampala Central MP Erias Lukwago, Wakiso LC 5 chairperson Eng. Ian Kyeyune, Nakawa division deputy RDC, Fred Bamwine; former security minister; Muruli Mukasa, the chairman Luweero Veterans, Lt. John Kaddu and many of the veterans plus several politicians from the Forum for Democratic Change, the Conservative and Democratic parties.
Through a live phone-call, President Yoweri Museveni participated in this maiden talk show; Ttabamiruka. Museveni reassured Ugandans that the Government was committed to fighting poverty through the prosperity for all project.
The sh18b which was earmarked for the programme was yet to be disbursed to the people across the country, he said.
He explained the six ways poverty will be fought, but declined to answer questions because he was too busy. His brief speech was highly applauded.
Popularly known as Embuutikizi, Bukedde FM is owned by The New Vision Group. It went on air earlier this month and broadcasts on 100.5FM. It was officially launched last Friday in the Old Taxi Park.
The two-day launch kicked off on Friday morning with the radio’s breakfast show, Bukedde Butya, being hosted at the Old Taxi Park.
The four-hour show was presented by Mark Mukunja and Hellen Nakacwa. It attracted crowds of fans who came to see artistes; Catherine Kusasira, Kid Fox and Doreen Mutibwa performing live.
The Saturday event was mainly a debate; the topic was ‘causes of poverty’ especially in Buganda; participants delivered lots of humour as well as knowledge, but most of them were better comedians than serious politicians.
Notorious speakers on radio talk-shows who included Isma Lubega, Stella Mukiibi, Bukenya Church Ambrose, Muchanna and Steven Asiimwe entertained listeners with their humour. These left listeners mumbling endlessly after their humorous debate and politicking.
Solomon Male, a popular Born-again Pastor, said unless the Government intervenes in some churches which rob followers, poverty and under development would continue to ruin the country. The Ttabamiruka talk-show will be hosted every Saturday from 10:00am.
