Obama promises to be his brother’s keeper

THE stakes are so high in the American elections that men and women who care about mother earth must take a stand. People of goodwill who care for the future of this planet must stand out to be counted. The United States of America is the most powerful country on earth. Its war chest is awesome.

THE stakes are so high in the American elections that men and women who care about mother earth must take a stand. People of goodwill who care for the future of this planet must stand out to be counted. The United States of America is the most powerful country on earth. Its war chest is awesome.

It s resources and the ability to exploit other nations’ resources are without equal. That is why the whole world cows to America except for crazy Afghans, Iraqis and Somalis.

These are the only ragtag armies around the world that don’t seem to give a damn about Uncle Sam’s might. The reason Obama is good for America and the rest of mankind is because he comes from a minority race in the United States. He is an outsider when you consider dangerous interest groups that control American politics and business.

He doesn’t own oil wells and has no stakes in corporate America. He has no shares in companies manufacturing deadly warplanes and guided missiles. He is an ordinary Black American just wanting to do good for ordinary Americans of all races, religions, creed and class.

Right now, Americans are fighting wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and are about to start another in Iran. They are supporting Israelis against the Arab Alliance for Palestinian lands while instigating unrest in neighbouring Cuba and unfriendly South American countries. They are in Europe encouraging Serbian separatists and inciting Georgia against Russia!

Americans claim to be fighting terrorists since the bombing of the Twin Towers in New York in 2001. For this, George Bush invaded Iraq; a country that had neither attacked nor harboured weapons of mass destruction.

Since Americans invaded Iraq, reliable international sources estimate at least 1.2 million Iraqis have been killed on their own soil! Americans have a chance in this year’s elections to change all this.

The only party that can reverse George Bush’s failed policies is the Democratic Party through Barack Obama because Obama values life and less trigger- happy than McCain and Sarah Palin.
Obama interprets the American Ownership Society not to mean ability to own wealth and property but for poor Americans to be on their own!

In demanding that Americans take back their country from Republicans, this ownership creed must force Republicans to own up to their failure for having failed to deliver productive leadership to fellow Americans.

In offering his leadership to the American people, Obama promises to be his brother’s keeper, a call he is making to all Americans to emulate. Like George Bush, he plans to give tax rewards to corporate America but only to those that create jobs for Americans at home.

Like George Bush, he will cut taxes but only to 95% of working class American families. High cost of fuel and other energy prices are very on Obama’s agenda.

He understands the dangers of the rest of the world being held hostage by oil producing countries. He would like to end this dependency on oil by developing natural gas for domestic consumption. He expects Americans to be able to produce affordable fuel-efficient cars during his presidency.

On welfare, Obama plans to create at least five million jobs for Americans every year with every American child given a world class education in order to be competitive in the 21st century. To achieve this, teachers will have to be paid better. All young Americans committed to serving their communities or country in any capacity will be assured of college education.

He promises good healthcare for all Americans and is determined to eradicate healthcare discrimination on the basis of class. He promises to enact laws outlawing discrimination on the basis of sex when it comes to individual pay perks and will change bankruptcy laws to protect ordinary Americans from losing their life’s savings to corporate America.

On the other hand, Bush and Sarah Palin promise Americans their country first even if they are starving. They promise to retain gun laws to fight imaginary enemies. They are more concerned with instilling fear in Americans than with providing solutions to American problems. They don’t find it necessary open dialogue with America’s perceived enemies like Iran and Cuba.

Listening to John McCain deliver his acceptance speech, I got the feeling that the grandfather was stuck in the past—his past. He personalised the speech so much that he forgot that the Americans were hurting at home. He displayed the Republican hypocrisy of vilifying Washington yet dying to get there!
