The Police have acquired a trained sniffer dog to enhance the operations of the criminal intelligence department. The district Police commander, Julius Salube, said the dog would help in Police patrols and tracking down criminals. “Security in our region has been disturbed by petty highway criminals, believed to be in possession of illegal arms.

Fishing nets confiscated

The district fisheries officials have burnt 1,100 illegal fishing gears at Kayei landing site. In an operation on Lake Kwania by headed by the district fisheries boss, George Ojok Ocen, several residents from 15 sudds were evicted. The officials impounded undersize nets and arrested fishermen from Kayei, Acholi Inn, Pabbo, Kiiga and Wansolo landing sites.“The nets disorganised breeding places of the fish.” Ojok advised fishermen to stop illegal fishing and start fish farming on land.
