I pulled out a sh20,000 note at the petrol station next to Shoprite and gave it to the innocent- looking conductor to get change as we refuelled. He moved a little further away but to my amazement, he returned claiming that I had given him a counterfeit note!
I shouted at him furiously but it was unfortunate I had no details about the note’s serial numbers but I was sure I had given him a legitimate note. This made me realise that the conductor connived with the pump attendant to cheat me. The public should be aware of this practice and this does not incriminate conductors alone!
