Quantitative Economics offers a high-quality graduate education in economic theory, finance and quantitative methods. The course combines quantitative methods with finance, allowing students to access a wide range of industry sectors.

The course equips graduates with skills in quantitative methods. It blends theoretical concepts, quantitative methods and their application to practical problems.

Students learn to analyse and solve complex practical economics and many times, finance tasks.

It provides them with methodical knowledge of economics, finance and econometrics, as well as mathematics and statistics. It also involves advanced application-oriented work and problem solving in the above-mentioned areas.

A degree in Quantitative Economics prepares graduates for careers that require a good education in economics, finance and quantitative methods. Graduates have a competitive advantage on the job market. They can work in banks, investment firms and microfinance institutions. The course also prepares students for research-oriented jobs in the government and private sector.

In the face of the growing complexity of the global economy, competition and increased reliance on quantitative methods for analysing financial developments, sales and other economic trends, this course is relevant to your child’s future career success in the field of finance. However, with the increased number of graduates, your child might require a postgraduate qualification in a related field of study. These can be obtained from the Uganda Management Institute, Makerere University Business School and Makerere University Faculty of Economics and Management. Coupled with good grades, this will enable your child to compete favourably.
