PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has invited investors to exploit the competitive advantages that are offered by the East African Community (EAC) member states.

“I invite investors to take advantage of the region’s competitive advantages that include the total population of the EAC that stands at over 120m both as skilled labour and consumers,” he said.

He said this in a speech read by the finance minister Dr. Ezra Suruma at the opening of the four-day first East Africa International Business Forum 2008 at the Serena Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.
The forum drew some 500 business executives from 23 countries including the US and Europe.

Held under the theme “Trade and Investment Opportunities: East Africa-one market one destination” focused on new opportunities for investment partnerships across East Africa and the rest of the world.

The President said the region was strategically located in the heart of Africa.
