A BRITON jumped into Murchison Falls in northwestern Uganda, and is suspected to have died. The Police suspect it was a suicide dive.

According to the Police in Masindi, Steven Morgan could have died last Tuesday, a day after arriving at the Murchison Falls National Park.

Police chief Alex Twebaze, said Morgan was booked into Paraa Lodge. “The following day, he parked the vehicle close to the falls and jumped into the falls,” Mwebaze said.

Authorities found a suicide note in the car Morgan had hired. Morgan allegedly blamed his action on a failed marriage.

The New Vision
, however, could not establish whether Morgan’s wife was in Uganda or Britain.

Mwebaze said the body had not been recovered.

Uganda Wildlife Authority boss Moses Mapesa said this was the first incident they had at the falls.

“There cannot be speculation, especially when the fellow left a note in which he reveals what prompted him to do what he did,” he said.

An official at the British High Commission said the search for the body was ongoing.
