And who needs Boyz II Men?

WHEN four-time Grammy Award-winning R&B group, Boyz II Men, made a last-minute cancellation of their show, it seemed to spell doom for Halima Namakula, the organiser.

Doomsayers said the concert would join the line of luckless shows organised by Halima that dated back to Tevin Campbell in 2001 to the recent Divas Concert.
Just how wrong they were!

A huge crowd turned up at the Lugogo Cricket Oval grounds on Saturday to see the other performers Joe Thomas, Tanya Stephens and Tanto Metro & Devonte.

The stage was impressive with magnificent lights, elegant projector screens were and fantastic sound. Tanya set the ball rolling with a 30-minute performance of her biggest hits, but she disappointed her fans when she ran away before doing Pull Up, her most popular song here.

Tanto Metro & Devonte treated us to their most popular hit, I Got News for You. The duo’s performance was great, but there was no doubting the adoration the crowd had for ballad man, Joe Thomas.

Joe had it all—the charm and impeccable sing-along tracks (The Love Scene, Don’t Wanna Be A Player, I Wanna Know, No One Else Comes Close, Good Girls, Stutter).

For anyone with an ounce of musical taste, this was a concert worth every penny. And no folks, we did not miss Boyz II Men. Not at all!
