THE water shortage that had hit Kampala city suburbs for one week will end today, National Water and Sewerage Corporation has said.

Gloria Nakibuuka, the corporation’s publicist said the shortage was due to repairs on water pumps.

For the last four days, Kyengera, Busega and Bweyogerere have experienced water shortage, while in Ntebetebe zone in Bweyogerere, water stopped flowing a month ago.

“We regret the water shortage in these areas. Contractors cut the water pipes that lead to Kyengera and Busega. But we have been working on them and water will be flowing again tomorrow,” Nakibuuka said yesterday.

She said there were also repairs on the pipes in Bweyogerere and Naalya areas, which caused shortage. “But we have finalised the repairs and expect a positive feedback from the residents in those areas.”

By press time, Naalya already had its water supply line restored.
Meanwhile, in Namasuba and Ndejje, water was being pumped at low pressure and as a result some homes had water while others did not.

Most people in these areas had resorted to buying water collected from springs and wells.
