LUKANGA Boxing Club will have no more worries over boxing gear if its partnership with a Sweden-based boxing club materialises.

Swedish lady boxer Linda Rylander has pledged to link Lukanga with other Swedish counterparts to ensure a steady supply of boxing equipment for the cashstrapped Ugandan clubs.

Rylander, a boxer at Kalmar Boxing Club in Stolkholm, donated an assortment of equipment worth $500 (about sh1m) to Lukanga Boxing Club patron Samuel Lukanga at Mengo Social Boxing Club last Saturday.

The Swede, who was struck by the lack of equipment, pledged assistance to Ugandan clubs.

“This is just a token. I am quite sure Sweden clubs will be able to help provide equipment very soon. The Uganda talent is amazing,” remarked Rylander.

The Swede was accompanied by former Uganda Bombers captain Sam Rukundo who is here for the Christmas break.

Rukundo, a Manchester Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, is also a former captain at Lukanga.
