THE fundraising campaign for the Zone VI golf championship started on Saturday with Crown Beverages chairman Amos Nzeyi offering sh10m.

The competition, coming to Kampala for the first time, is set for April. A sh190m budget has been drawn for the event, whose participants will also compete in the Uganda Open to be held shortly after.

Elite golfers from over ten countries, including Zone Six champions South Africa, are due in Kampala.

Nzeyi announced his offer after the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) President’s Cup at the Kitante course where the fundraising was launched.

“We have to work hard to make this event a success, this is my contribution,” Nzeyi announced.

The offer from Nzeyi, also a golfer, reduces the budget to sh180m.
Korstic Nemanja, a student of Rainbow International school, won the President’s Cup overall title at 68 nett. The ladies title went to Monica Ntege.
