Toyota has introduced a new sports utility vehicle in Uganda, the Fortuner
Toyota has introduced a new sports utility vehicle in Uganda, the Fortuner, writes Mikaili Sseppuya.
The managing director, Ian Walker, said at the unveiling at their showroom in Industrial Area in Kampala: “It is an innovative vehicle.â€
The sales and marketing manager, Joseph Tinkamanyire, said they were confident of selling at least 36 units in the next 11 months, excluding sales for the Commonwealth summit.
Tinkamanyire said: “It is Lexus-inspired. It leads the trend in focusing on urban usage with emphasis on comfort and the best balance of rugged and tough. It is an urban/rural vehicle.â€
He said the gear box allows the driver to select the ideal four-wheel drive setting without stopping.
Engineer Tom Ntulume said the vehicle had an electronic fuel injection, anti-lock braking system and airbags for the driver plus collapsible steering column.
It costs between sh71m and sh87m.
