KCC, what’s happening?

SIR — It was recently reported that Kampala City Council (KCC) had sold the football ground adjacent to UMA show grounds to Sudhir Ruparelia.
SIR — It was recently reported that Kampala City Council (KCC) had sold the football ground adjacent to UMA show grounds to Sudhir Ruparelia.
In a subsequent report, the deputy mayor denied that the fields were ever sold and that KCC was implementing the report by the Katorobo commission!
About two days later another newspaper quoted the mayor stating that Sudhir had very good plans, yet another newspaper reported about the plans in detail a few days later!
Todate no one in KCC has officially come out to clarify on the reports.
The public is alarmed about the status of the open playing field as it is the only facility of the kind left in the city.
KCC has a habit of neglecting such facilities with the sole aim of selling them off as useless and undeveloped!
I appeal to the ministry of Education and the National council of sports and all their affiliates to defend the cause of conservation The investors can look elsewhere and leave this remaining green patch.
