EXPRESS’ fans have finally handed in a petition calling for the sacking of club chairman Sam Kiwanuka.

The petition that was signed early this month when Express nearly failed to raise a team for a home game against Masindi was conspicuously shelved.

Fans re-gnited the move to oust Kiwanuka following Express’ 3-0 defeat to league debutants Boroboro in Lira last week.

The petition drafted in a tattered 48-page exercise book and signed by 162 fans was tendered in last weekend.

Express administrative secretary Farouk Ssimbwa confirmed he had received the petition through a waiter at Ekitoobero restaurant where the club conducts its executive meetings

The petition that was endorsed by fans coordinator Francis Ntalazzi cited failure to organise an annual general meeting, poor performance, failure to attend training sessions and matches and withdrawal from continental competition.

The club’s board of trustees comprising of Bbaale Mugera, Abbas Kangave, Kampala lawyer Peter Muliira and Rabbi Mulondo will decide Kiwanuka’s fate.

“How are you going to get money for the next day’s training if you don’t work. We are working when players are training and playing matches. The chairman is going to respond to the petition before the board of trustees decides whether to appoint an interim committee or to retain us in our positions,” Ssimbwa remarked.
