THE district council has passed a resolution that allows the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to take disciplinary action against heads of department who fail to utilise development funds.

This was disclosed by Betty Nam, the district vice-chairperson, while addressing the district council at Scout Hall recently.

The CAO, Stanley Adrabo, was commended for using minimum force to compel the concerned officials to account for public funds.

Nam also proposed that officers who do not account for money they have spent in the stipulated time should be penalised by withholding their salaries.

The proposal was made considering that when the current leaders took over office, over sh1.5b in public funds had not been accounted for.

The district speaker, Dickens Waco Olak, asked district councillors to ensure that they monitor projects of both the government and non-governmental organisations in the areas they represent.
