Khartoum government can do more

SIR — I am bitter about the Khartoum government not allowing UN peacekeepers into Darfur yet they have failed to bring an end to the suffering and death of people in this region!

The Kartoum government thinks “the US and the international community have the responsibility to convince armed groups to negotiate” (The New Vision February 10), but how do they expect this to be done with their boarders closed to peacekeepers?

I call upon the US to act immediately and strongly on Bashir’s government. I even wonder whether Sudan is fit to join the Commonwealth community during the CHOGM in Kampala in November!
