ALL finalists at the boxing National Open have been called to start preparations for the Africa Zone V championship in Cairo, Egypt in April.

Seventeen other boxers will join them ahead of the first trials March 18-19 that will see the camp reduced to 22 boxers. Eventually, 11 boxers will be picked to make the Cairo trip.

Boxing federation vice president Stephen Achiga confirmed that the team will be handled by five coaches: Dick Katende, Vincent Byarugaba, Kent Musa , Hussein Khalil and Mohamed Hussein.

The regional championship in Cairo, an Africa Boxing Confederation (ABC) elimination, is set for April 15-18.

Top boxers will earn berths for the ABC championship — the first 2008 Olympic Games qualifier — in Madagascar.
