KAMPALA City cleaning firm Nabugabo Updeal Joint Venture will bring in 11 garbage-collecting trucks worth sh2.6b.

During the launch of the initiative at the City Hall in Kampala, the company’s international development manager, Ali Kigongo, said the firm had also brought 360 plastic dustbins worth sh70m.
“As Uganda prepares to host the Commonwealth meeting, we want to ensure maximum hygiene,” Kigongo said.

Nabugabo has a partnership with NORD-REN A/S which collects garbage in northern Denmark.
He said the dustbins and two trucks are already in the country.
“I met NORD-REN’s director Preben Nielsen in UK recently.

We worked on the remaining nine trucks that will come from Denmark. They will be here on March 28. We had 14 old trucks of which 10 have been phased out. We now have six trucks,” Kigongo explained.

Each of the new trucks carries 12.5 metric tonnes of garbage daily, which can be carried by five ordinary ones.

This is because the trucks compress the garbage.
He said they would soon set up a sister company in Nakawa Division.
