UGANDA Women Football Association is set to traverse the country in search for players to form a new women’s national team.

FUFA vice president in charge of women football Florence Nkalubo disclosed the plans while addressing players at the Front Page Microfinance sponsored International Women’s Day gala at Nakivubo on Thursday.

Uganda will send a team to the inaugural CECAFA women championship in Zanzibar in October.

“Women football has the support from FIFA and so we need to take the opportunity to show what we can offer. We shall traverse the country to get players to form the national team,” Nkalubo told the players at the prize giving ceremony.

Hearts United won the club’s trophy 3-1 on penalties against Kyambogo University after the two sides settled for a 0-0 result after the normal time of play.
