WHAT do you do when you are not sure? The uncertainty that we sometimes feel about people in power — can we trust them? Do we trust the judgment of the people that educate our children?

WHAT do you do when you are not sure? The uncertainty that we sometimes feel about people in power — can we trust them? Do we trust the judgment of the people that educate our children?

The play at the National Theatre on weekend presented by Kampala Amateur Dramatic Society (KADS) rotates around St Nicholas Catholic School and the clash of wills between a strong-willed school principal (Avril Porter alias Sr Aloysius) and the popular priest in the parish, (Denis Matanda alias Father Flyn) who coaches boys in basketball and befriends students.

His behaviour showed him to be a more contemporary spiritual leader in contrast with the principal. But the nun has doubts about the moral character of the priest. At first it seems she is witch-hunting him, but her continued probe into the priest’s life uncovers shocking details.

Now, faced with such a situation, whom do you identify with? The priest who loves teaching, but makes mistakes or the school principal who uses all her experience and beliefs to protect the children at any cost?
