THE deputy speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has challenged administrators of primary schools in her sub-county to deal with the poor performance of the pupils in their final examinations.

Out of 750 pupils from 15 primary schools in Mbulamuti sub-county, Kamuli district, who sat Primary leaving Examinations last year, only three passed in Division One.

Records indicated that only two candidates passed in Division One the previous year.

“Headteachers should identify the cause of the poor performance in the national exams,” Kadaga urged, while handing over certificates to O’level students of St. Paul Senior Secondary School.

Of the 48 students who sat last year’s O’level examinations, 21 of them passed in Division One and the rest in Division Two.

“I was excited when I saw our school appearing in the newspapers as one of the best schools in the region,” Kadaga said.

The headteacher, Reuben Lufafa, regretted that few students from the sub-county enrolled in Senior One because the majority did not qualify.
