SINCE the beginning of the year, the City Limit Crew looked all but set to rewrite local dancehall music history. The Dancehall duo, Dr. Propa and Roni Banton, started building momentum with Na Lo, the first single off their second 10-track album.

With its irresistibly catchy beat and hooks, it was a foregone fact that Na Lo would make its mark on club goers. The album is expected to arrive in Kampala music stores at the beginning of April.

The group is also rehearsing for their upcoming tours of Europe and US, beginning in July. They will be performing in Stockholm, London, Denmark, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Jersey, and Atlanta. They will also perform for the church community in New York.

Robert Kasule of the US-based Kee Note Promotions, who is coordinating the shows, says another deal for them to perform in Germany later this year is in the pipeline.

Kasule revealed that City Limit’s songs, especially Kankole and Microphone are so popular among Ugandans in the diaspora. That is not to mention their latest hot single, Kawuna, which is guaranteed to make them more popular. The song is popular on most local FM radio stations’ countdowns.

But unlike their previous tracks, Kawuna only features vocals by Roni Banton. The song criticises men who abandon their wives and go partying with other women.

And with an album featuring impressive songs like Obba Ogenda Genda, Sala Ediiro and Engato, it seems like everything is in order for the crew. They surely have their work cut out for them.
