UGANDAN women are so fashion conscious that everyday is a celebration of style. The weekend is swarmed with ladies in stretch jeans, cropped tops and shades to keep the bright sunlight at bay.

They walk with their flip-flops in a relaxed mood. With the Easter holiday around the corner, everyone wants to dress impressively.

Your dress code will be determined by the social activities crowning your Easter season. Here is a guide on where to shop for a few items to help you achieve the look.

For the day at the beach or a barbecue at a friend’s home, be casual. Most women favor cropped trousers, halter neck blouses and camisoles which portray the perfect picture of relaxation.

Blouses range from sh15,000 and above in shops on Luwum and William streets. With today’s seething heat, a camisole is a must-have for your casual wardrobe.

At Yamaha Centre on Luwum Street, you will find cropped trousers at about sh30,000. A linen blouse costs sh30,000 or more, depending on where you shop. The casual style aside, you can look glamourous for the formal social activity. For a dinner at a posh hotel in town, do not turn up in your jeans.

Evening dresses are everywhere in town that one is spoilt for choice. Dresses range from sh80,000 in shops on Sunset Arcade, Wilson Road.

Elegance is not only attained by wearing evening dresses, a two-piece outfit will do wonders for you. At Street Shop 15 on Zai Plaza, get beautiful flowing skirts at sh60,000. Blouses are also available at sh30,000.

Although the public never gets to see your underwear, it is worth investing in it. World of Lingerie on Sunset Arcade offers the shopper French panties with polka dots, complete with lace trimming at sh5,000.

If your budget cannot accommodate a new outfit, make the best of what you have by investing in jewellery. Chunky jewellery is fashionable.

Get good pieces for sh25,000 at Shop 5, Anne’s Boutique on Maria’s Galleria on Luwum Street.

The craft village at the National Theatre also offers cheaper options of chunky jewellery at sh5,000 a necklace.

You can get a matching bracelet with earrings to complete your look.
