THOUSANDS of people who had left camps in Orum and Olilim sub counties in Lira district have started moving back after an attack by Karimojongs warriors.

The deputy Inspector General of Police, Julius Odwee, said three warriors on Monday kidnapped Alfred Olok who had gone fishing in River Agago and later killed him in a nearby village. This, he said, caused panic among the returnees, who rushed back to protected camps.

“I want to assure you that we have deployed an Anti-Stock Theft Unit at
Apyenpwot, which is the entry point of these warriors,” Odwee told people
at Orum Camp on Wednesday.

However, by Thursday, the returnees were still moving back to the camps. Odwee said they would arm volunteers, identified by local authorities in Otuke to help fight the warriors.

The Olilim LC3 chairman, George Kamara, and Orum sub-county chief, Robert Okwir, said the warrior’s dodge the security forces and raids unarmed people.
