Teenies to honour role models

WHICH Ugandan celebrity do our teenagers look up to? Who inspires them most? This will be answered tomorrow at the first-ever teenage awards at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

WHICH Ugandan celebrity do our teenagers look up to? Who inspires them most? This will be answered tomorrow at the first-ever teenage awards at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

Dubbed the Buzz Teeniez Awards, the event slated for 10:00am to 7:00pm, will feature performances from top artistes.

There will be lots of prizes including music CDs, T-shirts, caps, MP3 players. The grand prize is a bursary for the “teenie of the year”. utl is sponsoring the strictly alcohol-free event, alongside Sanyu FM and WBS TV.

Entrance is sh5,000.

WBS TVs Rachael Kiwanuka leads the pack with five nominations closely followed by the Obsessions with nominations for Teenies ‘flyest’ video, most creative dancers, hottest group and teenies hottest collabo, for the song I do, done with Mosh.

James Mutebi, the product manager personal solutions for utl, said the awards are meant to promote constructive criticism and positive behaviour.

A youth magazine, Buzz, initiated the idea. He says the event will be held annually.

The nominees who Mutebi said had all confirmed attendance are;

Best male artiste: Peter Miles, Maurice Kirya, Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine

Best female artiste: Iryn, Juliana, Racheal Kiwanuka, Priscilla Kalibala

Hottest group: Ngoni, Blu*3, Benon & Vamposs, Obsessions

Most creative dancer group: Infinity, Maisha, Kombat, Obsessions

Beat maker: Henry Kiwuuwa, Washington, Steve Jean, Joe Tabula

Radio personality: Fat Boy (Sanyu FM), Gaetano (Capital), Aisha (KFM), Lady Bizzo (Hot 100)

TV personality: Herbie K(Record TV), Straka (WBS), Richard (UBC), Rachael Kiwanuka (WBS)

Teeniez role model: Mich Egwang, Peter Sematimba, Angella Katatumba, Lawrence Mukiibi

Teeniez Athlete: Dorcus Inzikuru, Boniface Kiprop, Moses Kipsiro, Alex Malinga.
