Janet urges medics on infection prevention

THE First Lady, Janet Museveni, has urged medical officials to sensitise people on prevention of infections. Mrs. Museveni said medical workers should cooperate with locals if prevention of diseases is to be achieved.

THE First Lady, Janet Museveni, has urged medical officials to sensitise people on prevention of infections. Mrs. Museveni said medical workers should cooperate with locals if prevention of diseases is to be achieved.

She was speaking at a farewell ceremony for the director of Rushere Community Hospital, Joan Hall, in Kiruhura district, according to a press release from her office.

She commended Hall for her service and accepting to leave her home to work in Uganda. The First Lady, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ruhama county, challenged the residents and their leaders to maintain Hall’s achievements.

She also commended the hospital’s board of trustees, directors and the staff for their contribution. About sh1m was raised in cash and pledges towards construction of a men’s ward.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Stephen Mallinga, said funds are available to improve regional hospitals in the country. He added that there are plans to train hospital administrators to improve the quality of services.

Hall commended the staff for their team work and cooperating with her. She thanked President Yoweri Museveni for encouraging her to start the hospital.
