Kampala-Masaka road to get face lift

Four firms have bid for the reconstruction and refurbishment of the Kampala-Masaka and Masaka-Mbarara road, the Road Agency Formation Unit’s spokesman, Dan Alinange, has said.

Four firms have bid for the reconstruction and refurbishment of the Kampala-Masaka and Masaka-Mbarara road, the Road Agency Formation Unit’s spokesman, Dan Alinange, has said.

The firms are; Salini, Sogea Satom, Maltauro and RCC.

“The bids were in two packages with ‘A’ being 63km on the Kampala- Masaka road and ‘B’ 154.5km on Masaka-Mbarara road.

For part ‘A’ Salini bid euros 72m. If given both packages, Salini would offer a discount that would reduce the offer to euros 66m.

Sogea bid euros 49m, RCC euros 45m and offered a discount of euros 0.4m, while Malturo did not bid for part A.

For part B, Salini bid euros 107m, Sogea euros 85m, Malturo euros 89m and RCC euros 75m.

RCC also offered a discounted of euros 115m
