Residents want district

MUKONO-There maybe complaints of the current 81 districts being very many but residents of Nakifuma county will hear none of that. Meeting their MP, Joseph Mugambe, recently, the residents led by councillor Isaac Byekwaso demanded that their area be upgraded to a district because service delivery in their county was poor. Mugambe promised to support the resolution and decried the district administration for ignoring the poor road network in the county.


IGG pins two over graft

MASAKA-If the Inspector General of Government’s (IGG) recommendation is to be implemented, two senior municipality officers will become jobless. Faith Mwonda directed that the clerk to the council, Mbaaga Kigwanyi and Horace Wakabi, an internal auditor, be interdicted for allegedly altering tender documents with the intention of causing financial loss. The acting town clerk, Martin Ssentongo, said the IGG accused the two of altering figures to favour Master Supplies and Construction Company win the contract of constructing a water-borne toilet at Hill Road Primary School under the School Facilitation Grant programme.
