THE Mufti, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, has labelled his critics as ‘agents of Satan.’ He said those opposed to his administration did not want to see Islam and Muslims develop.

“When God created Adam, Satan did everything possible to mislead him. This is exactly what my opponents are doing,” he told Muslims at Kyotera Mosque in Rakai on Sunday.

The congregation was praying for Prophet Muhammad during a mauledi (Islamic feast) organised by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.

Mubajje, who has been dragged to the courts of law to answer charges that he fraudulently sold Muslim property, accused his opponents of mobilising idlers from Owino Market to cause chaos in Kampala.

“Those criminals do not know the basics of Islam. Not even how to pray. They are jobless drunkards who cause havoc,” asserted the visibly angry Mufti.

He also claimed the clique was led by people who wanted to cheat Muslims out of their money and cautioned pilgrims to Mecca against registering with them.

Sheikh Anasi Sessimba of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council said some of Mubajje’s critics did not have clean records.

“Former president Idi Amin sent some of these people to Luzira Prison for misusing funds meant for constructing the Old Kampala Mosque.”
