Hope talks tough
The state minister for local government, Hope Mwesigye, seems to be learning the antics of her senior minister Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire. Like Otafiire, she has started talking tough. Addressing the press at the media centre recently, Mwesige had no kind words for those planning to destabilise CHOGM. “Those who want to riot, well its their right as long as they do it through rightful means but they should be warned that government is also prepared to deal with them,” she warned.

Mafabi assured
Whereas thousands of prisoners ‘rot’ in prisons without bail, the Public Accounts committee chairman, Nandala Mafabi, is assured that this will not happen to him in case he commits a crime. While appearing before the committee last week, the secretary to the Judiciary, Ralph Ochan, told him: “I assure you Mr. Chairman that you will get your bail before anything happens,” Mafabi was grilling the officer for failure to grant prisoners bail. Hmmmm! Now that is real power.

Mutumba certain
Kawempe South MP Ssebuliba Mutumba has no doubt that herdsmen are well informed, especially about the Auditor General’s Report. He thinks that that is where they got the information that the agriculture ministry’s land is not titled. “You are responsible for the grooming of the pastoralists. I think they have read the AG’s report and got to know that even if they grazed within your ranches, you would not mind. Your land is not titled and therefore you cannot know whether they have encroached on your land or not,” he told the ministry officials who denied it.

Opposition MPs
As Henry Banyenzaki and Sam Lyomoki continue to fight what they call injustice in the NRM caucus, opposition Mps seem to be enjoying the fight.
Addressing the press on Thursday about their dismissal from the committees, over seven opposition MPs decided to sit behind and watch the two spill the ‘rot’ in the party. Smiling, laughing, clapping, the MPs watched in awe wondering what had become of the two MPs.
